Description
What struck me most about the Metropolitan Cathedral Ciudad de México is how bright it is inside.
It is situated on top of the former Aztec sacred precinct near the Templo Mayor on the northern side of the Zocalo (Plaza de la Constitución) in the historic center CDMX. The cathedral was built in sections from 1573 to 1813 around the original church that was constructed soon after the Spanish conquest of Tenochtitlan to spell the complete destruction of the Aztec empire.
Where there was a dream city formed by an island connected by bridges along circular canals, so-called Christianity, began the process that led to what is now one of the most polluted places in the world, where the heaviest buildings are drowning at a rate of 40 mm per year in the reclaimed canals, a higher entity than Venice itself in Italy
