In my photographic tour to the ancient monasteries, I always ask if it is possible to turn off the ambient lighting and, if there are no tourists, sometimes I can get it.
In the Alcobaca Monastery, the ancient pulpit has no barriers or protections, it is accessed only through an elegant arched staircase.
According to the documentation, at least two other passages have been walled up and nobody knows where the entrances were.
The legend tells of the mysterious deaths of the monks who read the Holy Scriptures on the pulpit, all the confreres intent on eating and no witnesses.
Evidently someone came from behind these passages and remained hidden
Micah Offman as a photographer resided in Tucson, AZ but had the opportunity to travel throughout the world and, as a result, the chance to capture a host of intriguing images from many different countries. Micah is interested in photographing disparate subjects, often filtered with dream-like atmospheres or with music as inspiration. All of his images have a special look that is the result of his commitment to making photographs treated in detail. Furthermore, his passion for science fiction and fantasy themes has also led him to produce some works using AI (Artificial Intelligence) finding its originality here too. This is such a beautifully lit image with a mysterious backstory. I truly appreciate what you have done to showcase the architectural elements: arches, Corinthian columns; in the day, two years of art history was required study and one year was devoted to the cathedrals of medieval/Gothic/Renaissance periods. This is spectacular!…FAV
