The original Barrowland Ballroom opened in 1934 in a mercantile area east of Glasgow’s city center and was built by “Barras Queen” Maggie McIver.
The front of the building is decorated with a distinctive animated neon sign. The sign is believed to be the biggest of its kind in the UK.
Maintaining a neon sign is expensive due to the maintenance required but the vitality of the fluorescent tubes has no comparison with current LED or mega screen installations.
Micah Offman as a photographer resided in Tucson, AZ but had the opportunity to travel throughout the world and, as a result, the chance to capture a host of intriguing images from many different countries. Micah is interested in photographing disparate subjects, often filtered with dream-like atmospheres or with music as inspiration. All of his images have a special look that is the result of his commitment to making photographs treated in detail. Furthermore, his passion for science fiction and fantasy themes has also led him to produce some works using AI (Artificial Intelligence) finding its originality here too.
