The Sintra National Palace is the best-preserved medieval royal residence in Portugal. In the 13th century wing, by the time of King Dinis and Isabel of Aragon, this is the chamber where King Alfonso VI (1643-1683) was imprisoned during the last years of his life, truth or not, we'll never know for sure, he was considered crazy. The ceramic floor is one of the oldest (1430-1440) of the entire building.
